November 2015The first mention
The story of how we met has some complexity to it, so bear with me. Rachelle (my roommate at the time) is a vital part of our story and I couldn’t be more thankful for her role in bringing us together. It was the Fall of 2015, probably October or November, and Rachelle was getting her hair done in Bowling Green with Megan (hairdresser, and another key role) when she first met Trey, who was getting his hair cut at the same time. I’m not for sure what exactly the conversation was like between Rachelle, Megan and Trey but I know he made a great impression on Rachelle, who came in the door of our apartment in Nashville and immediately said she just met a very sweet guy who I have to meet. She said while Megan was doing her hair, they got to talking about him and it turns out Rachelle and Bre (Trey’s sister and another vital role) worked together as nurses in the Medical Center in Bowling Green at one point. Rachelle went on and on about how sweet Bre was and that she comes from a great family. Well, of course I asked for his name, looked him up on Facebook and said “ok, make it happen.” I was thinking, “this will never amount to anything…I don’t know this guy…I’m not going to send him a Facebook message and say my friend thinks we’d be great together, let me meet you in real life.” So, I forgot about him. Now I’d be lying if I said I never creeped his Facebook profile again, though.
January 2016How we met
Fast-forward to January 18, 2016. I was on my way to work when I got a text from Rachelle that said, “on a scale from 1-10, how adventurous are you feeling for a blind date?” I smirked, and then respond with, “can I get some background info first?” She then texted me a picture of his Facebook profile picture (which I immediately recognized) and she said “the same guy I told you about a couple months ago.” I got butterflies, smiled by myself in my car and replied with something like, “yea, why not!” So while working night shift as a nurse in Nashville, Rachelle, the matchmaker, had apparently messaged Bre and casually asked if Trey was single because she thought him and I would be a good match. So sometime during the daytime hours on January 18, 2016, Trey ended up with my number. I worked a full day, got home, showered and was getting ready for bed when I got a text from an unknown number. I opened it and the rest is history 🙂 We texted until close to midnight that first night and each night leading up to our first date. I had never met this guy in person but he couldn’t keep me from smiling nonstop.
(Told by Trey)
It began with a routine haircut at Megan’s office. I was waiting in line while Kaci’s roommate, Rachelle, was getting her haircut. I didn’t know at the time that Rachelle was Kaci’s roommate. Heck, I didn’t even know Kaci existed. Rachelle went back home and told Kaci she met a guy that she needs to meet. Fast forward two months, I still didn’t know Kaci existed. My sister told me Rachelle was trying to get ahold of me, so I added her on Facebook. She wanted me to meet her roommate. So I got Kaci’s number and sent her a message asking if she wanted to go out on a date. Our first date I drove from Bowling Green to Nashville in 13 inches of ice and snow to take her out for tacos. From that night on we became best friends. I can’t wait until she’s my beautiful wife.
January 2016Our First Date
So after texting back and forth all day long for a few days, Trey asked me if I wanted to go ice skating in Nashville that weekend. Of course, I couldn’t wait to finally meet this guy. Little did we know, it was going to snow 13 inches that weekend. Trey must’ve been pretty determined, though, and drove from Bowling Green to Nashville in the blizzard of 2016 to pick me up. We ended up going out for tacos and drinks because all the ice rinks had to close due to large amount of snow. But it was perfect. I fell in love with Trey’s kind, sweet personality and he immediately made me feel so comfortable with him. I think when your heart feels like it’s home, that’s when you just know.
